1. Justify the title of Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘IF’?

-the author gives pieces of advice letting his son choose 





2. What are the qualities the poet talks about in the poem ‘If ‘by Rudyard Kipling? 

1st stanza 
-  keep your calm in different situations 
- self -confident in one's ability and integrity 
- be patient and truthful 
- hate is not a way to go 
- not be arrogant or showy ( ' artificial ' ) 

2nd stanza 
- dream big but think deeply ( there is sacrifice on the way to the dream ) 
- have the mental strength to handle with any situation in life : success or failure 
- also have the strength of hearing your words twisted for different reasons 
- do not give up whatever happens  

3rd stanza 

- one should have the courage and determination to take big risks for good reasons 
- one should force himself even when it is old ; you need toughness of character to do so 

4th stanza

- be able to  socially interact with all social classes , behaving the same with all of them 
- care, but not too much because you have to be balanced even if that person disappears from your life 
- be attentive not to be disappointed either by foes or friends because when you are sad you are vulnerable 
- realize the value of time ; it is vital for success and for your wellbeing

- Technology helps you be closer to far away people, but in the same time it keeps us apart.

- We have good experts but we can't solve all problems.

- We have taller buildings but shorter tempers.

-We have comfortable boats but they don't have a compass so they don't know where they are going.

-We clean the air, but we pollute our souls.

-We eat fast-food, but we  have slow digestion .

- We have wider freeways, but narrow viewpoints.

- We have more degrees but less ( common ) sense.

- We have more knowledge but less judgment.

- We drive too fast but we think slowly.

- We watch TV too much but we read too rarely/seldom.

- We hate too often but we love too seldom.

- Society wants you to think out of the box but the educational system makes you fit the box.

- We conquered outer space but not the inner space.

- We add years to life not life to years. :)

- We spend more but we have less.

- We have bigger houses but smaller families.

- We have more medicine but less wellness.

- We have multiplied our possessions, but we have reduced our values.

- We have learned how to make a living, not a life. 

- We have split the atom, but not our prejudice. 

- We plan more, but we accomplish less.

- We write more, but we learn less.

- There are steep profits, but shallow relationships.

- There are times of world peace, but domestic warfare.

- There are more types of food, but less nutrition.
